Honeymoon heaven ...

Honeymoon in the UK, surely not! Whilst Mauritius, St Lucia and Kenya are some of the leading contenders for the most beautiful locations in the World, spare a thought for us here in the UK. OK, it is undeniable we do not have the weather, and if you are a sun tot this may not be for you. If you are looking for an amazing setting for the start of married life the Lake District may be just what you are looking for.

As a non Cumbrian I have to admit should this suggestion had been put to me 5 years ago I would at the very best been skeptical, 5 years and a Cumbrian husband later I must say it would be remiss of me not to share this with you. Only last week I took a walk around Ennerdale Lake, the views are spectacular and on a sunny day you could be forgiven for mistaking some of the fells to be a mirror image of those we see in blockbuster films in New Zealand.

The beauty of the Lakes is that there is so much variety . Individually and as couples, we all have our own picture of the perfect getaway. For those of you who just want to sit back and take it easy in the lap of luxury the Lakes have their fair share of tranquil, indulgent accommodation where your every need is attended to. There are excellent information sources online, http://www.lake-district-guides.co.uk.

A Lakeside cottage is idyllic, for novice walkers like myself I would recommend near by walks of Ennerdale, Crummock water & Buttermere. For the more seasoned walkers Great Gable may be better for you,a bit of extra effort but worth the spectacular views. My advice would be know your limitations and you might want to bear in mind that a bikini two piece and sandals may not be the best choice!

For the history buffs I would recommend that you check out the online info on 'hallmark attractions', these six hot spots might be your idea of heaven.

Or City hoppers, enjoy a good shop the Lakes afford for this. A trip to Keswick may uncover some hidden treasures in one of their vintage shops.

So whether you enjoy fell climbing and gauge walking, or long for a luxury break away in 5 star accommodation, there is something for you.Who says romance can not be found in the UK, you just have to look.
